153

Today (1/26/10) I am exactly 7 weeks along. Here is a little picture of the embryo (aka Monkey). The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point!

The day is finally here, our second OB appointment. From what I have read, we should be able to hear the heartbeat today. Oh my goodness….REALITY CHECK!!! I haven’t really been thinking about my appointment lately, morning sickness at NIGHT has been on my mind (and my stomach) constantly!

As Dustin and I walk into the Ultrasound room, we are a little nervous about hearing (or not hearing) a heartbeat. I lay on the table as the assistant squirts a HUGE cold glob of lubricant on my tummy and gently (I wish) moves it around. We see a large circle (uterus) with a smaller circle (yolk sac) inside. She zooms in and we see our little Monkey. The assistant measures monkey at 6 weeks, a week earlier than I actually am. Then she zooms in a little more and all of a sudden….
THUMP THUMP…THUMP THUMP…THUMP THUMP!
IT’S THE HEARTBEAT!!! She informs us that Monkeys heart rate is at 153 beats per minute, at which time Dustin blurts out “my hell is he running a marathon in there”! Only Dustin!!! I ask the assistant to humor me and pull the heartbeat up again. As we hear the heartbeat for a second time…the tears start flowing!!! I can’t believe it’s real! I can’t believe I have a little Monkey growing inside me!

This Won't Fit Me?!?

After Dustin and I went to the doctor’s office we had a family dinner that same night at Corbin’s in Layton. Mom picked up a cute little skull outfit and thought that we could use that to tell the rest of the family. One thing I was nervous about was telling Rylan. I didn’t know if I should talk to Al and Di first or what. Finally I decided to pull him aside and tell him the news before anyone else knew so that he would feel special.

I pulled RyToast out in the lobby of the Restaurant and asked him if he could keep a secret. He replied “yes”. I told him that I was pregnant and asked if he was ok with it. He was so happy he could barely STAND it. I told him that he had to keep it a secret until I told the rest of the family, and he did!!!

The moment has come….time to tell Aunt Dianne, Uncle Alan, Uncle Gary and Aunt Lon. I pulled out that cute little skull outfit and gave it to Grandma. I asked her very loudly, so that everyone could hear “Grandma…you left this outfit at our house, is it yours”? Mission accomplished, I got everyone’s attention. Grandma simply replied “this wouldn’t fit me, who do you think it would fit”? The very first one that got it was Aunt Lon…her eyes lit up and I just knew she knew. Then of course Uncle Gary caught on (I think because Lon got it). RyToast was sitting there grinning from ear to ear and we both kept looking at Uncle Alan and Aunt Dianne. Finally Aunt Dianne blurted out “really? Are you pregnant”? I said yes and she started crying. Uncle Alan just looked at me and smiled. You could tell that Uncle Alan and Aunt Dianne were so happy for us.

Whoo Hoo, the immediate family knows! Now on to the extended family!

Four Weeks Three Days!!!

The day has come….our very first OB appointment. As I sit in the waiting room we couldn’t help but notice all the big prego bellies, thinking to myself….that is going to be me in a few months! The nurse finally calls my name and she escorts Dustin and I back to an ultrasound room. She does the ultrasound and informs us that I am four weeks and three days along (how they know that…who knows)! She also informs us that it is not a tubal pregnancy. It’s too early to see the little poppy seed size embryo however she does show us that my uterus is thickening.

Doctor Calla Holmgren comes in and gets all the history on us and then she lets us know that I need to get off the Coumadin and on the lovely Lovenox shots. YUCK! Those dang shots hurt like hell! We get all our prescriptions and head out. So exciting!!!

My next appointment is at my seven week mark when we should be able to hear the heartbeat! WHOO HOO…we are pregnant!!!

Three Positives Make A.......BABY!

Dustin and I have been trying to have a child for a while now. We were both at our wits end when I decided to take a home pregnancy test on Tues 1/5/10 (which I have to do monthly because I take Coumadin, a blood thinner). OMG….it was positive!!! Not believing it, I flew over to Albertsons and bought two more tests. All three…yes three tests were POSITIVE! I immediately called Dustin and in record time he was home. I showed him a picture of the positive pregnancy tests and he was dumbfounded.

Before I told anyone else, I HAD to call Aunt Shar in Ohio. You see she was the first one I told when I was pregnant with Rylan so I decided that whenever I got pregnant again, I would tell her first like the last time. Aunt Shar about died!!! She was soooooo excited to hear the news and she was so happy that she was the first one to know.

We decided to tell our parents that night, so we called Dustin’s mom (Paula), my mom (Terry), my step dad (Sid) and my dad (Bill) over. Mom and Paula FREAKED out and I will be uploading the video on YouTube shortly! Dad just giggled and said “that’s pretty cool”. Sid was pretty excited too.

After we told the parents, I knew I had to call Grandma Barbara. You see, she was on the phone with mom earlier and was worried about what we were going to tell her. She was just so happy.

Next, I decided to call my Sister-In-Law Jenni. She was so excited! She then put her son Brendan on the phone so I could tell him. When I told Brendan I was pregnant, he made a little screech and threw the phone. LMAO! He then got back on and I had asked him what happened, he said “I almost passed out”! So funny!

Dustin and I decided that we would wait to tell the rest of the family until our first appointment.
